4.1 Civilians AI improvement

Follower alarm improvement
When one of your follower raise the alarm he will tell you what enemy he sighted.
Small improvement, but might be useful, especially if you keep contact by cellphone.
If you told him to guard your shelter and it is only a skeleton, it might not be worth the trouble to go back there in a hurry.

Civilian Tips
Civilian will have conversation about enemies and items they recently saw. Just hang around them and you might hear interesting tips.
Useful if you are searching for a specific item, or you were fleeing south and a guy comes at you and tell about about a disciple lurking there...

If players like this feature and it doesn't spam the message log too much I'll extend the feature for other kind of tips, such as buildings location (eg: "There's a groceries shop 18 tiles to the NW") or soldiers patrol.

This feature was very easy to implement thanks to the AI Percept system. The building thing will requiere a different implementation though.

End of post.

  1. I like the i spotted X down X feature. Im mainly interested in the soldier patrol because around day 9 when im around disiple town i wanna know that soldiers are that way if i need help.

  2. Rejoice for I added the soldier tip. Friendly soldier or evil soldiers. That will be useful for players who don't carry a Pink Bunny GPS item around.

  3. Well if they are evil soldiers that wont help because if they saw them either they were getting mobbed, about to die, getting mobbed and about to die or they are running from them.

  4. Will there be non-perishable foods, as MRE's, or in this case, "army rations" are non-perishable.

  5. Also, one thing I find funny is that everything you sleep on for added bonus's is called a couch, yet there are no actual couches! lol, not really a point in them, as they would be the same as beds I guess.

  6. Not too fond of non-perishable food, perishable food force the player to search for fresh food. But I might add some *rare* non-perishable food items.

  7. Hey, Roguedjack, will there ever be an SDL version of the game akin to Dwarf Fortress? I can't download microsoft updates on this computer and it makes the game unplayable.

  8. Are you going to make it so you can make your followers build fortifications? Like, small and large ones?

  9. Possible non perishable food? the first thing that came to my mind when i read that was zombie killer bees. But yeah besides honey there is stuff like dehidrated meat/fruits, instant noodles (saw a show were a guy ate a 5 years expiration date noodles) etc.

  10. A small typo, ammo for a shotgun is called shotgun SHELLS, not cartridges.

  11. You should add a new city area called rural, it would kinda be like green areas but there would be farm houses and crops (that you could eat for food)... i just thought that would be a good idea.

  12. ....There could be zombie cows and zombie chickens..also another idea could be to have food that isnt non-perisable but has multiple uses, so instead of 1 use a bag of groceries could have 3 uses since it is a "bag" of groceries.

  13. Build fort. orders yes.
Shotgun cartridge look like a valid term (eg: http://www.euroguns.co.uk/acatalog/Shotguncartridges&ammunition.html).

There will be more district kinds (industrial, airport for instance), this could include rural districts.

  14. You know that is a European link? (it says EUROguns) In America they are usually referred to as shells.
Nevertheless, it is only a minor issue.

  17. I think it is safe to say that this post has the most comments on it so far.
Ok, for my review of the game, It is great. THE most realistic zombie apocolypse game to date!

  18. Don't worry about missing 4.1, I'll make an announcement as usual and the downlink is always the last version. I want to make sure there is enough new stuff in it vs 4.0 and it doesn't introduce too much new bugs. I'd say its out in a week.
    I'll change "cartridges" to "shells".

  19. Being able to tell npcs about stuff might be useful. Whining to the national guard about black ops.... Let them run to their death for your benefit. Telling people to stay away from where you saw the zombie master.

I would be very happy to be able to initiate trades as well, and see npc responses....

    Lol. Diet food:
'Is their such thing as a vegan zombie?'
'They eat brains, you eat granola.'
'(when expired) Previous message. stale, but at least it isn't spoiled.'
    Base 280 food.
Expires on average 4 days after start of game, But doesn't spoil.
