    1. Yeah real-time would be awesome is their an ETA for the release somewhere?

  2. Will you definitively stop working on the first RS ?

    1. If I do, I'll release the source.

      Delete
    2. So does that mean you'll maybe continue Rogue Survivor?

      Delete
    3. So then. Where are you?

    4. I think Jack fell off a cliff.

  3. Maybe you would, you know, finish Rogue Survivor first?

  4. or keep some updates coming at least?
    it is a great game!

  5. Yeah I really want a better way to keep the sanity of humans because the sanity sources dont last forever so everyone goes insane eventually.

    1. Except that each zombie kill is a sanity source.

      Delete
    2. Yes, but unless you go on a rampage with a killstreak of like 50 the zombie kills don't seem to add enough.

Luckily, you both forgot that having a follower in the "Bond" level of trust also increases your sanity. However, it seems 1 follower is enough to slow it greatly while 2 or 3 actually increase sanity after a while.

    3. Yes, but with my playstyle (the gunbunny that is awake and on the main map at midnight sharp), killstreaks are normal in the early game. And even with no levels of Strong Psyche and no companions, theoretically should only take 12 kills to recover from a full day of sneaking around, neither killing anything nor seeing anyone zombify.

    4. Adding the sanity rebalanced the game and make him more interesting in my opinion. Before, I used to hide somewhere with a lot of food, waiting for my perks to evolve. Now I need to move everytime to explore and kill monsters. It also seems there is more food than before now.

    5. Well lets say your city has like no zombies and you choose to follow no one but you keep chatting with people and doing other stuff. Wouldn't you not go insane but in the game you gotta go take pills or have a follower or manage to find a book or magazine.

      Delete
    6. If you do just that on real life, no entertainment, no pills, no followers, no work, a lot of people do go crazy/insane. :D

  6. This is a good decision!
It has a lot of potential if your code has the right kind of modularity to it, and so far looks great.

I dare to ask, is there any chance for net code?

  11. It's a shame. Among over a hundred Roguelikes I have played, this was one of the best and most promising ones. But, as with so many promising Roguelikes, this one will never be finished.

I don't think Rogue Survivor II will be half as good a game as its predecessor (like 99% of its competitors it'll probably never be released), but I sincerely hope I'm wrong.
    Good luck.

  12. It may be a shame, but ultimately you have to realize that freeware like this is a hobby project for the guy sitting behind the screen on the other end. If he's not getting something (enjoyment, challenge, experience, etc) from developing it, it's his prerogative to spend his free time on something which enriches his life more.

I'd wager a guess he started RS2 less because he feels it'll be "better" than RS, and more because it offers new challenges and opportunities for him to learn, test himself, and explore his abilities. You can't begrudge him that.

My perspective is thus; just appreciate the art that freeware devs produce, finished or not.

  13. Both projects look deader than a zombie.

  14. Hope everythings ok with Roguedjack, this length of absence is unusual.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Yep it's true. Usually he stops for a while and then appear again with a new update. But it's been almost four months now.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Does anybody know any news from roguedjack? he hasnt done any updates for over half a year now and i am worried that he stoped for some reasons to make the awesome games.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Sorry mate, I think this project is dead.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I miss roguedjacked ;_;

    ReplyDelete
  19. Ya, I think he forgot about us :(
I hope maybe he'll make a return, he might just be on hiatus for a bit. Fingers crossed though, rogue survivor is literally my favorite roguelike ever made.

  20. Still no roguedjacked ;_;

    ReplyDelete
  21. It's been so long with no activity from rougedjack that i'm going to assume this is dead. He would have at least made an announcement or something, so signs point to dead.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I feel like roguedjacked died ;_;

    ReplyDelete
  23. I loved playing Rogue Survivor. If you're still lurking around Roguedjack, you should look into Steam Greenlight. RS is definitely something I would buy.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Yeah....he's absolutely dead.

    ReplyDelete
  25. WHERE IS HE! IVE BEEN PLAYING THIS GAME NONSTOP FOR THREE WEEKS NOW (I have to peeeeeee)!!!!!!!!!
    WE NEED YOU! roguedjack!!!!!

  26. Any news at all?
anyone got anything about roguedjack or the game?

  27. Check out Cataclysm DDA if you want to play another roguelike that's similar to Rogue Survivor. It's only ASCII right now, but tiles should be ready within the next couple of weeks. It's fantastic.

  28. ^^^^

Also, normally I wouldn't advertise another game on Rogue Survivor's webpage, but it seems fairly certain that development has been discontinued, and I wanted to let anyone that comes by know about another great roguelike that is very similar in theme and style to Rogue Survivor, and is in active development.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Yep, and I've ported most of Rogue Survivor tiles from my old tileset there. The graphical version will be finished in near future.

  31. I love this game, Roguedjack, and there's still a bunch of people like me who love this game. I believe you should come back and continue development on this game, or at least make it open source.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Enough vacation already? get back to the game at once!!
Seriously, this is really awesome, don´t let it go.

  33. No brains? D:

    1. There wasn't that much done. Anyone interested might as well just write up their own game.

  35. I know it might be not good to say, but.. It so seems roguedjack died or gone to jail...

    ReplyDelete
  36. I'll check this blog till the end of days

    ReplyDelete
  37. Amen to that brother.

    ReplyDelete
  38. If he does return make him give up the source code because he's not using it.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I have no clue how to develop games but I am sure there is some guy in the back of the audience with their hand raised that does know.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I'll never stop waiting for Jack to return.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I'm still waiting. I might be the only one.

    1. Me as well, although I doubt we'll see Roguedjack again. :( There really aren't that many different reasons for a dev to disappear for over two years...

      R.I.P.

      Delete
    2. Yep, there may be plenty of reasons for such. I have seen it before.

    3. Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!! come back pls ):

  43. Seems like roguedjack ist tot. That or he ran out of Dollorovs. Or went to jail.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Recall that he replied in an email about job opportunities in africa like 3 years ago, RJ working for the south african government developing a super secret zombi sim sounds about right imo.

    1. Then he definately did not run outta Dollorovs, most likely is that one of the 'test subjects' chewed his face off, placing him on a state of perpetual totness. Now he will have to sleep forever in a wooden jacket.

    2. Please.. Return to us RoguedJack..

  48. Just go friends, last time Rogue said anything was like 3 years ago. The game is dead. Others will come. Hold the Line.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I hope he's ok :(

  50. When someone says they're going to roll their own library, yeah, I'm not surprised that's one of the final posts you hear from someone.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Almost to the end of the year. Another year without Jack. T.T

  52. Game stopped working on my win 7 machine, came back to re download, good thing the files are up.

  53. Jack will come back some day. I know he will.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Hey Jack, I've come out of lurking myself since 2012 to come here and say that I hope you're okay. I realize that you may have lost the drive to develop this wonderful little game, and I'm not asking you to come back or even reply. I'm just letting you know that we hope everything is okay and that you won't be forgotten.

  55. Some day
    He will return
